Toronto's Roncesvalles is into the second phase of its reconstruction. Roncesvalles Renewed is a group of residents, business owners, politicians, city planners, and transportation officials working together.
Our key priority was to ensure that plans include the conditions necessary for trees to flourish. We also planned for better sidewalks and improved public spaces to create an avenue that all would enjoy. These plans are now undersay. To show your support for a great street and to help our businesses get through this final phase, please buy and dine locally.

The TTC and Toronto's transportation department will begin construction work on Roncesvalles in the Fall of 2009. Roncesvalles Renewed and the Roncesvalles BIA have been advocating for addition to work to be done during the re-construction period in order to make the street more environmentally and pedestrian friendly. Among the changes proposed are extensions of curbsides - or "bump-outs" - to support wider sidewalks and streetcar loading platforms.
Some debate has come up as to the effects of wider sidewalks on parking. Business owners are concerned that wider sidewalks will reduce store traffic and local residents worry that drivers will seek parking spots on residential streets. However, residents and business owners should not be concerned as current levels of parking are well below capacity.
Roncesvalles Renewed volunteers under the direction of Mark Ellwood conducted observations on parking capacity on the street. The results are summarized in the Roncesvalles Avenue Survey and reveal that parking on the street is substantially below capacity at almost all times.
